The quickest route from road to rail – and vice versa – is via KSW’s own terminal for combined transport (CT) in Kreuztal. In particular companies that lack a siding or that are not based in our region will gain fast access to rail freight transport via the CT terminal.

Located at the heart of Germany’s third-strongest economic region, the South Westphalia Container Terminal offers an efficient transport infrastructure for combined road-rail transport on a total area of around 18,500 m² with two handling tracks (225 m each) and a siding (190 m). Up to 45,000 loading units per year can be handled with the mobile handling equipment in 24/7 operation. The handling facility also has a storage area for dangerous goods and a mobile leakage tray, enabling us to offer access to reliable and environmentally friendly solutions for the transport of containers, swap bodies, and semi-trailers for consignees and consignors of goods in the economic area of the three-state corner of North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, and Rhineland-Palatinate. Comparable handling facilities for combined transport are at least 80 km to 120 km away by road.

The economic and industrial centres of Germany can be reached quickly via Kreuztal thanks to connections to the main routes of intra-European freight transport. In addition, companies that integrate the CT terminal into their logistics will benefit from special rights that pay off from the very first kilometre: Higher payloads for lorries, exemption from vehicle tax, and exemptions from driving bans are some advantages that characterise the combination of road and rail transport. Toll and vehicle costs are reduced as well.
